Beginning September 10th, 2009 we are embarking on a 1 MONTH campaign to find 50 MEMBERS. Why fifity members? That is how many we need to become a self-sufficient organzation. You see we have no major outside funding. Becoming self-sufficient is the only way we can continue our work.
Why right now? Because we are at a critical step. We need to make it happen soon. And if we can, we will have built a foundation for years to come. Help us make it a reality!

Our craftspeople are strong and talented. They want to provide for themselves.
The best way to honor their dignity and skill is to create a self-sufficient organization... an organization where the work
of their hands creates the change in their lives. This is sustainable change.
And now this goal is within our reach.
If we can double the stock quantity in our store, we can
reach self-sufficiency. Our craftspeople are excited about this and are already well on the way to doubling
our production. Argentine and Mapendo have trained two new craftspeople, last
month we invested in a significant quantity of material, and our
craftspeople have already finished sewing it! In fact we currently
have 2 cartons of stock in Congo waiting to be shipped.
But we need your help!
For each of those cartons we need to pay
our craftspeople, pay
shipping, and pay for the cloth to continue sewing. We cover these costs until each product is sold because we work with the poorest
of the poor. Too often people are poor not because they lack skills but because they lack opportunity. They know
how to sew but can not afford the cloth to begin.
Will you help us build a "working capital fund"? When you become a member of SHONA your donation will be put
directly into a fund that will be used to pay for material, shipping and
wages up front. As products are sold, the fund will be renewed
again and again, allowing us to build a sustainable future.
Learn more about this!
But we need this fund now! Those cartons are waiting to be shipped, our craftspeople are waiting for new
material, and our shelves need to be stocked for Christmas. We are working hard but we can not continue without a "working capital" fund. If you like what we do, please consider helping us continue into the future.
